Chinese ceramic ware shows a continuous development since the pre-dynastic periods, and is one of the most significant forms of Chinese art. China is richly endowed with the raw materials needed for making ceramics. The first types of ceramics were made during the Palaeolithic era. Chinese Ceramics range from construction materials such as bricks and tiles, to hand-built pottery vessels fired in bonfires or kilns, to the sophisticated Chinese porcelain wares made for the imperial court.
Decorated under the glaze with a blue pigment, generally cobalt oxide, the famous blue and white ware goes through stenciling, glazing, transfer-printing and baking in high temperature. It is distinguished by its splendid and lasting color. This porcelain vase is a perfect representation of Chinese intricate and elaborate craftsmanship. It is painted with flowers in full bloom with winding twigs and leaves. Intricate but clean in pattern, classical and elegant in design, this artwork is worthy of aesthetic appreciation and collection.
